Immaculate Heart of Mary,

It is easy to forget that we know how the story ends. We know that Jesus has been raised from the dead. We’ve heard about it for years. It is the central element of our Christian faith. But think about those disciples in the early morning of that first day of the week. It is hard to imagine the flood of emotions they must have been experiencing—everything from the shock to fear to the beginning of joy. This empty tomb was the start of a new adventure. It is beautiful to see the development of faith in the early Christian community, moving from the shock of Mary Magdala, Peter, and the beloved disciple to the witness of Peter we hear in the first reading from the Acts of the Apostles. Questions turn to statements. We are witnesses. We ate and drank with him. He commissioned us. It is important to remember that these developments occur over time. Like these first disciples, we must allow ourselves to remember, however, that our life of faith is an ever-developing process. As we celebrate Easter, let us invite the risen Christ into our hearts so that we might continue to grow in relationship with the God who loves us. And if we are at a moment in our lives where we are not ready to shout “Alleluia!” today, let us bring ourselves as we are to the God of life and love. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Imaculado Corazon de Maria,

Es fácil olvidar que nosotros sabemos cómo termina la historia. Sabemos que Jesús ha resucitado de entre los muertos. Llevamos años oyendo hablar de ello. Es el elemento central de nuestra fe cristiana. Pero piensa en cómo esos discípulos se quedan a primera hora de la mañana de ese primer día de la semana. Cuesta imaginar la avalancha de emociones que debió de estar experimentando: desde el shock hasta el miedo y el comienzo de la alegría. Esta tumba vacía era el inicio de una nueva aventura. Es hermoso ver el desarrollo de la fe en la comunidad cristiana primitiva, pasando del shock de María Magdala, Pedro y el discípulo amado al testimonio de Pedro que escuchamos en la primera lectura de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Las preguntas se convierten en afirmaciones. Somos testigos. Comimos y bebimos con él. Nos encargó el trabajo. Es importante recordar que estos desarrollos ocurrieron con el tiempo. Como estos primeros discípulos, debemos permitirnos recordar; Sin embargo, que nuestra vida de fe es un proceso en constante desarrollo. Al celebrar la Pascua, invitemos al Cristo resucitado a nuestro corazón para que podamos seguir creciendo en relación con el Dios que nos ama. Y si hoy estamos en un momento de nuestras vidas en el que no estamos preparados para gritar "¡Aleluya!", llevémonos tal y como somos al Dios de la vida y el amor.
