Immaculate Heart of Mary,

The fastest growing religious denomination is “none.” Among the almost 20 percent who do not identify themselves with any religion, approximately three-quarters were raised with a religion as children. The study prompts important questions. Why is this happening and what can be done about it? The Matthean community asked similar questions, as reflected in today’s gospel. Why do some accept Jesus’ interpretation of the law while others do not? Like all Jesus’ parables, the one in today’s gospel is open to a variety of interpretations. If we take the sower as the focus, the parable invites us to reflect on the boundless generosity of God, who offers the Word, in the person of Jesus, to all in the hope of a fruitful response, no matter how poorly prepared to receive in some way seems to be. If we zero in on the seed, the parable assures us of the efficacy of the word. No matter what the yield, the seed itself is good, and it will bear fruit. If we take the harvest as the focus, the explosive return propels us into reflection on eschatological fulfillment of hopes beyond our wildest dreams. Finally, if the different types of soil are our focus, the parable urges effort to do everything possible to cull out obstacles and cultivate maximum receptivity to the word. La denominación religiosa de más rápido crecimiento es "ninguna". De casi el 20 por ciento que no se identifica con ninguna religión, aproximadamente tres cuartas partes crecieron con una religión cuando eran niños. El estudio plantea preguntas importantes. ¿Por qué está ocurriendo esto y qué se puede hacer al respecto? La comunidad matea planteó preguntas similares, como se refleja en el evangelio de hoy. ¿Por qué algunos aceptan la interpretación de la ley por parte de Jesús y otros no? Como todas las parábolas de Jesús, la que aparece en el evangelio actual está abierta a una variedad de interpretaciones. Si tomamos al sembrador como el centro, la parábola nos invita a reflexionar sobre la generosidad ilimitada de Dios, que ofrece la Palabra, en la persona de Jesús, a todos con la esperanza de una respuesta fructífera, por muy poco preparado que parezca para recibir. Si nos centramos en la semilla, la parábola nos asegura la eficacia de la palabra. Sea cual sea la cosecha, la semilla en sí es buena y dará fruto. Si tomamos la cosecha como foco, el retorno explosivo nos impulsa a reflexionar sobre la realización escatológica de esperanzas más allá de nuestros sueños más salvajes. Por último, si nuestro foco es los diferentes tipos de suelo, la parábola insta a hacer todo lo posible para eliminar obstáculos y fomentar la máxima receptividad a la palabra.
